Robinson Leads UCI in Pentathlon at Riverfront Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. – Senior Jolie Robinson led a trio of Anteaters in the pentathlon to kick off the Riverfront Invitational & Multis Thursday at The Podium.
 
Robinson compiled a personal-record 3,858 points to place third in a field of 22 athletes. Her score ranks third in program history.
 
Junior Zharia Taylor took seventh with 3,590 points, which puts her fourth among UCI's all-time leaders in the pentathlon. Senior Jazzmine Davis rounded out the group in 13th (3,387).
 
Robinson started the afternoon with a time of 8.96 in the 60m hurdles. She was .04 seconds off her PR in her first 60H race of the season. The Mission Viejo, California, native then cleared 1.55 meters (5-1) in the high jump before climbing seven spots in the standings over the next two events. Robinson had the top mark in the shot put where she recorded a lifetime-best 12.55m (41-2.25), nearly putting her among the program's top-10. She then led the field in the long jump with a school-record tying leap of 5.97m (19-7). Robinson is now tied for first with teammate Reyna Johnson in the record books. She closed out the meet with a personal-best 2:27.52 in the 800m.
 
Taylor clocked a lifetime-best 9.00 seconds in the 60m hurdles and matched her PR in the long jump at 5.53 meters (18-1.75). She also led the 'Eaters in the high jump with a clearance of 1.58m (5-2.25). In addition, Taylor finished ninth in the 800m (2:27.80) and 11th in the shot put (10.13m/33-3).
 
Davis began the day with a runner-up showing in the 60H (8.61). She added a lifetime-best 5.47m (17-11) in the long jump.
 
UC Irvine returns to The Podium tomorrow for the second day of the Riverfront Invitational & Multis.
