Twenty Anteaters Named to MPSF All-Academic Team

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine landed a program-record 20 student-athletes on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team the conference office announced Wednesday.
 
The Anteaters, who won their first MPSF Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship in early March, got it done in the classroom as well, topping last year's record of 19 all-academic selections.
 
Samantha Bartz, Makena Castillo, DeAna Davis, and Jolie Robinson earned their third career MPSF All-Academic honor.
 
Sarah Ajayi, Nyla Baker, Kaia Schmidt, and Halle Sutherland also received the recognition for the second year in a row.
 
Nicole Contreras, Esmeray Demirbas, Arden Keeton, Leilah Lauifi, Liana Lee, Mikah Longcob, Faith McLeary, Ihe Okoh, Pinkie Schnayer, Anna Soares, Alana Sugue, and Zharia Taylor were first-time honorees.

Thirteen of the 20 'Eaters who made the all-academic team contributed to UCI's MPSF team title. 

To be eligible for the MPSF All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year at their institution prior to the season for which the award is being received and have competed in a minimum of 50% of the team's meets.
