Men's Tennis Heads to ITA Sectionals and LMU Invite

IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's tennis team will send three student-athletes to the ITA Sectional Championships in Berkeley, Nov. 6-9, while the rest of the squad heads to Los Angeles for the LMU Invite, Nov. 7-9.
 
Hiroki Sakagawa, Tal Goodman, and Max Fardanesh are entered in the ITA Sectional singles draw of 32. Goodman/Sakagawa are also one of 16 teams in the doubles draw. Action gets underway Thursday with doubles at 9 a.m., and singles to follow at 11 a.m. From this event, six singles players (semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners) and three doubles teams (champion, finalist, third place) will qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships.
 
Sohrob Amiryavari, Mason Bui, Greg Gamal, Alex Guajardo, Ruining Huang, and Nathaniel Suh are set to compete in the LMU Invite. The three-day tournament features a hidden dual format, with the Anteaters going up against Utah, Denver, and host LMU in both singles and doubles. Play starts at 9 a.m. each day.
 
Through his first two tournaments of the fall season, Fardanesh leads the 'Eaters with a 6-3 singles record. Goodman, Amiryavari, and Guajardo also have four wins each.
