BERKELEY, Calif. – UC Irvine men's tennis came up short in the main draw of the ITA Sectional Championships Friday at Hellman Tennis Complex.
 
In doubles, Tal Goodman and Hiroki Sakagawa fell to Santa Clara's Luca Bluett/John Kim, 6-4, 6-1, in the quarterfinal. Sakagawa also dropped a straight-set decision to fifth-seeded and 63rd-ranked Zoran Ludoski of Arizona in the singles Round of 16.

LOS ANGELES - UC Irvine picked up a pair of singles wins to open the LMU Invite Friday at LMU Tennis Center.
 
The Anteaters kicked off action with singles against Utah. Mason Bui led the 'Eaters with a straight-set win as he took down Charles Frey, 6-3, 6-4. Nathaniel Suh also bounced back from a first-set loss to upend Sascha Nothdurft 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
 
Following singles, UCI took on Denver in doubles. The Anteaters came up empty handed but Bui/Suh gave Tom Noltorp/Raffaello Papajcik a run in a 7-5 defeat.
 
The 'Eaters return to the courts on Saturday to face tournament host LMU in doubles and Denver in singles starting at 12 p.m.
