UC Irvine Wraps up Action in San Diego and Santa Barbara

SAN DIEGO – UC Irvine men's tennis closed out the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic against Boise State Sunday at USD's Skip & Hogan Tennis Center.
 
The Anteaters battled against a Broncos' squad that went 21-6 and advanced to their third-straight NCAA Tournament last year. Mason Bui and Nathaniel Suh made their doubles debut, dropping a narrow 7-5 decision to Adam Duda/Lukas Velik. Freshmen Greg Gamal and Alexander Guajardo also came up short against Taiyo Kurata/Julius Seifert, 6-2.
 
Suh and Gamal pushed their singles opponents to a third set. Suh came out strong, taking the opener, but Duda bounced back for the 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory. Gamal, who won a second-set tiebreaker, fell to Velik, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
 
The 'Eaters also played extra matches in singles and doubles at the Big West Fall Invite in Santa Barbara. Sohrob Amiryavari fell to Diogo Morais (UCSB), 6-2, 7-6 (5), while Ruining Huang dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to the Gauchos' Carson Lee. Complete results were not available at the time of release.
 
UCI will be back in action at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, Oct. 16-19.
