
UC Irvine Ranked 10th in ITA Southwest Region Poll

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's tennis came in at No. 10, while Hiroki Sakagawa was 20th on the singles list in the ITA Southwest Regional Rankings that were released this week.
For the second-straight season, the Anteaters made the cut in a tough region that includes five teams ranked among the top-25 in the nation. The 'Eaters went 14-8 overall and 5-1 in Big West play to claim a share of the regular season conference title. They advanced to the Big West Championship final for the fifth year in a row.
Hiroki Sakagawa was named the Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Year after going 14-3 (5-0 Big West) at the top of UCI's singles lineup. He had two ranked wins, defeating No. 87 Lucca Liu of UC Santa Barbara and No. 103 Manvydas Balciunas of San Diego. Sakagawa was also a first-team all-conference selection and won a league-leading four Big West Player of the Week awards in 2026.
