He took down opponents from UC San Diego and Hawai'i, before an impressive 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 quarterfinal victory over UC Santa Barbara's Diogo Morais, where he saved four match points to break serve and force the tiebreaker in the second frame. Fardanesh ended up falling to Lucas Bollinger of UC Davis in the semifinals, but won the third-place match over Jovan Lubbe (Cal Poly). Sohrob Amiryavari also picked up three singles wins. He made it to the quarterfinals and finished sixth overall. In doubles, Fardanesh/Ruining Huang advanced to the semifinals. The pair closed out the opening weekend of action with a 3-1 record.
