SAN DIEGO – The UC Irvine men's tennis team picked up another road win as it defeated San Diego State, 4-3, Saturday at Aztec Tennis Center.

The Anteaters improved to 2-2 on the young season.

The Aztecs (2-2) took the early advantage in doubles with a 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Rithvik Krishna and
Ruining Huang brought the 'Eaters even after bouncing back from a 5-3 deficit to top Louis Chusseau/Liam Spiers, 7-5, at the third position. The doubles point then came down to court one where SDSU's Mathieu Josserand/Alexander Mandma outlasted
Andy Nguyen and
Noah Zamora in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5).

UCI didn't trail for long as
Rithvik Krishna was first off the court in singles, dispatching Louis Chusseau, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3.

Noah Zamora followed suit with an impressive 6-3, 6-4 win over Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice at the top of the lineup before
Andy Nguyen gave UC Irvine a 3-1 advantage with a 6-1, 7-5 triumph at No. 2.

San Diego State stayed alive with a straight-set win at No. 4, but
Max Fardanesh, who was in the singles lineup for the first time in dual play, clinched the match for the visitors. After splitting the first two sets, Fardanesh was dominant in the third for the decisive 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 victory on court six.

Alexander Mandma and
Lawee Sherif played out their three-setter at No. 5 with Mandma taking it, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

UCI will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 7, when it hosts Pacific in a 1 p.m. match at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
