CSC Men's Tennis Academic All-District Team

Matthew Sah and
Hiroki Sakagawa have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Men's Tennis Academic All-District Team.

Sakagawa earned first-team All-Big West honors in singles and was a second-team selection in doubles. He finished with 11 dual-match singles victories playing primarily at No. 2 where he was 9-5, while also adding two wins on court one. At the Big West Championships, Sakagawa delivered UC Irvine's match-clinching singles victory in both the semifinal and final to secure the program's second conference title in the last three years. He also finished with 10 doubles wins. Sakagawa is in the Master of Finance program.

Sah received All-Big West honorable mention recognition in doubles where he had a team-leading 12 victories. In his time at UCI, Sah has led the Anteaters to a pair of Big West Championships (2022, 2024) and a share of the regular-season title (2023). He is tied for 26th in program history with 43 career doubles wins. This is Sah's second CSC Academic All-District award. He is also a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and three-time Big West All-Academic selection. Sah is currently working toward his master's degree in software engineering.

To be considered for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and have been in the lineup for 70% of the team's total matches.

Sakagawa was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot that will be voted on by CSC members. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 5.Â
