IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine senior Faith Tedesco was named the Big West Player of the Week after playing a pivotal role in the cage in UC Irvine's 14-13 overtime victory over No. 8/9 Long Beach State.

This is the first honor of Tedesco's career, first of the season.

Tedesco stopped a career high 19 saves in 38 minutes of action, one save shy of tying the school record set back in 2006. The senior's effort not only kept the Anteaters in the contest but handed them the victory after making one final stop in the final six seconds of the overtime period which helped UCI to the No. 2 seed in the Big West Championship this week.

The Santa Barbara native ranks fourth in the Big West in goals against average (8.98), fifth in save percentage (0.475) and saves (162).

Tedesco and the Anteaters are set to face No. 7 seeded and No. 13/14 nationally ranked UC Davis in the opening round of the Big West Championship on Friday Apr. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in Davis.
