IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine shot a blistering 0.614 clip from the floor and 0.913 from the free throw line in a 93-68 victory over Hawai'i at the Bren Events Center.
The Anteaters saw scoring from 11 different players and the offensive performance (35-57) was the second-best field goal percentage of the season just behind the 0.615 night in a 111-51 win over Occidental.
UCI went 21-23 from the stripe, matching the second most made this season. The 93 points are the most by the Anteaters against a Big West opponent this season and third most overall this year.
The Anteaters dominated the paint, outscoring the Rainbow Warriors, 62-34, and held a 37-25 rebound advantage.
Center Bent Leuchten was locked in from the opening tip and led UCI in scoring with 15 points. He shot 5-6 (0.833) from the floor including one of UCI's two three-pointers, 4-4 from the free throw line, and pulled down six rebounds.
Freshman Carter Welling tied his career-best with 14 points and led the Anteaters with a career-tying seven rebounds. He was 4-5 (0.800) from the floor and 6-8 (0.750) from the free throw line, while adding two blocks.
UCI improves to 17-6 and sits on top of the Big West standings with a 10-1 mark.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Guards Pierre Crockrell II and Derin Saran each had 12 points, each going 5-6 from the field
> Crockrell II knocked down his first career-three-pointer at UCI and dished a game-high seven assists
> Guards Andre Henry and Justin Hohn both posted nine points
> Henry recorded four rebounds and a steal, while Hohn had three rebounds and three assists
> Forwards Devin Tillis and Dean Keeler totaled seven and six points respectively with two rebounds each

FIRST HALF
> Bent Leuchten started the scoring with a short floater before Devin Tillis grabbed a rebound and passed it back out to Pierre Crockrell II who promptly fired it right back to Tillis who banged it in and was fouled. Crockrell II then drove down the court for a layup on the next possession, 7-0 (18:53)
> Leuchten had a pair of free throws before Andre Henry set the ball to Leuchten for two more at 16:46, 11-4
> The Anteaters continued to pound it into the post with Dean Keeler recording a pair of baskets to give UCI a 19-10 lead at 11:59
> UCI went on a 7-0 run that was started by a Hayden Welling jumper followed by Leuchten launching a three-pointer from the top of the arc and a Derin Saran streaking right side layup to force a Hawaii timeout, 26-11 (9:29)
> Saran stopped and pop from 10 feet out then dished to Welling underneath at 1:42, 41-24
> UC Irvine went into the half with a 45-28 lead
SECOND HALF
> Crockrell II and Tillis combined for a 5-1 UCI spurt to move the Anteater advantage to 55-34 at 17:24
> Crockrell II swiped the ball on one end and Hohn dribbled around the paint and made an off balance jumper while being fouled at 16:19, 60-35
> Hawai'i would try and rally on an 8-2 run that started with six in a row, 72-58 (7:43)
> Crockrell II answered with his first career three-pointer at UC Irvine from the corner followed by a free throw and layup by Carter Welling to keep the margin at 20 at 4:58, 80-60
> In the final 2:10 of action, UCI scored the final seven points to bring home the 93-68 victory
