UCI Falls To No. 3 UCLA In High Scoring Affair

Box Score LA JOLLA, Calif. – UCI fell to No. 3 UCLA, 21-15, in game three of the Triton Invitational.
 
Four Anteaters had multi-goal games with redshirt junior Jake Liechty scoring his two in the first quarter.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Freshman Nolan Cary made his first collegiate start in the cage and played 20 minutes
  • Junior Garrett Selby played the remaining 12 minutes of the game in the net
  • Selby blocked No. 3 UCLA's lone five-meter opportunity
  • Liechty, Wyley Dale, Jack Stevens, and Gage Verdegaal all had two goals in the contest
  • Luka Krstic, Samuel Otta, and Johann Thrall are on three-game scoring streaks
  • The Bruins committed 12 exclusions while the Anteaters had 10
  • UCI scored the first goal of the game for the third straight game
  • The second quarter was a high scoring affair as UCLA and UCI scored eight and six respectively
  • UC Irvine outscored No. 3 UCLA 5-3 in the final period
