
Sean Brown Named Assistant Coach At UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. -- Sean Brown has been named an assistant coach with the UC Irvine track & field program.
Brown, who will work with the jumps, returns to UCI after serving as the Anteaters' volunteer pole vault coach in 2022. Brown was an All-American pole vaulter at Cal Poly where he graduated with a degree in philosophy. He tied for 10th at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and was named the Mustangs' Athlete of the Year in 1997. His collegiate-best of 5.65 meters (18-6.75) as a senior still ranks second in program history. Brown was also a U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in 1999 and established a personal-record 5.70m (18-8.75). Brown has prior coaching experience at his alma mater, mentoring 1998 NCAA Champion Bianca Moran and Big West Champion Jenna Holmes. He has also spent the last 20+ years as a digital producer for organizations such as TBWA/Media Arts Lab, USA Track & Field and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Brown is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USTFCCCA certified jumps coach.
