IRVINE, Calif. - The NCAA has released its latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) and once again all of UC Irvine's athletic programs easily surpassed the minimum multi-year requirement of 930 with five teams recording a perfect multi-year score.
Â
This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus. Last spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the release of APR scores but voted to continue the suspension of program penalties. Normal Academic Performance Program operations with program penalties and loss of access to postseason competition will resume in spring 2024. This will also include the public recognition of high-performing teams.
Â
Each of the Anteaters' 18 sports featured in the annual report (represented by 17 scores with women's indoor and outdoor track & field counting as one) had multi-year scores of 965 or better. Twelve teams were above the national average of 984.
Â
UCI women's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, women's golf and women's tennis led the way with a perfect score of 1,000.
Â
Women's cross country, women's track & field and women's water polo were also above 990, while baseball, men's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball were above 980.
Â
The current APR scores reflect rates from the 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years.
Â
The APR creates a real-time look at a team's academic success by tracking the progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. It accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation, and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
