IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomore
Jolie Robinson has been named the 2023 Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Year the conference office announced Friday afternoon.

Robinson accounted for 20 of UC Irvine's 98 team points at the Big West Championships. She started the meet by winning the heptathlon with a personal-record 5,343 points. Robinson was third through four events before starting Day 2 with the top marks in the long jump (5.96m) and javelin (42.63m) to take the lead. She did more than enough in the final event, clocking a lifetime best in the 800m to claim the Anteaters' first Big West heptathlon title in 16 years.

The following weekend, Robinson was right back in action, competing in the long jump, high jump and javelin. She was the Big West runner-up in the long jump, while adding two more points with a seventh-place finish in the javelin. The Mission Viejo native was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet for her effort.

In her first season as an 'Eater, Robinson etched her name in the school record books. Her heptathlon PR of 5,343 points is fifth in program history, while she also set lifetime-bests of 5.97m (19-7) in the long jump and 42.63m (139-10) in the javelin, which rank fourth and seventh, respectively. She finished the 2023 campaign among the top-10 in the Big West in the heptathlon (1st), long jump (5th), javelin (8th) and high jump (9th).
During the indoor campaign, Robinson set a school-record in the long jump at 5.84m (19-2), and landed among the top-10 in the high jump (1.63m/5-4.25) and pentathlon (3,540). Robinson is a transfer from Saddleback College where she was a two-sport athlete. She came to UCI in January after wrapping up her sophomore campaign with the Bobcats' volleyball team. Robinson also competed one year in track & field where she was the 2022 CCCAA state champion in the heptathlon, long jump and javelin.
