IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track and field team picked up two event wins on the second and final day of the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic at Anteater Stadium.

Deandra Tyler kicked off Saturday's action with her second shot put victory of the season. Tyler led wire-to-wire, opening with a mark of 14.35 meters (47-01). She saw an improvement on her third attempt in Flight 2 before starting the finals with a personal-record 15.02m (49-03.5).
Nyla Baker was also eighth with a lifetime-best 12.67m (41-07), while she was UCI's top performer in the discus where she came in third at 42.26m (138-07).

The Anteaters produced the top-four marks in the 1500m.
Cathy Salazar-Gasca led the way with a personal-best 4:28.56 for the individual victory.
Hannah Chau claimed runner-up honors with a lifetime-best 4:29.09, and
Anna Vogtmann took third in a season-best 4:31.93.
Evelin Meza clocked a PR 4:32.29 to round out the quartet.
Emma McCarthy (4:40.32) and
Montgomery Allison (4:40.36) also placed among the top eight.

In her first collegiate 400m race,
Malia Gay ran a personal-record 56.88 to finish second overall.
Alexis Alexander added a third-place showing and established a lifetime-best 57.10 in her 400m season debut.

The 'Eaters had two individuals place among the top five in the long jump.
Jolie Robinson was the runner-up at 5.79 meters (19-00) and
Reyna Johnson took fourth at 5.59m (18-04.25).

Amari Fraser was fourth in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a season-best 14.65 seconds. Johnson also notched a season-best 14.82 to come in seventh, and
Journee Harvey posted a lifetime-best 15.32.

Fraser (64.37) and Harvey (66.49) were second and fourth, respectively, in the 400m hurdles.

Makena Castillo put up a personal-best 2:17.62 to finish ninth in the 800m.

Samantha Bartz (12.13) paced the 'Eaters in the 100m where she was fifth out of 44 competitors.
Aryel Coats was right on her heels in sixth at 12.16 seconds. Coats (25.26) and Bartz (25.31) also led UC Irvine in the 200m.

Olivia Liuson (18:04.07) and
Claire Livengood (18:04.39) each had a top-10 showing in the 5000m.

The Anteaters wrapped up the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay.
Mia Marquez,
Lauren Aquino, Fraser and Alexander combined for a time of 3:47.93.

UC Irvine is back in action next Friday, April 7, at the Challenge Cup in Santa Barbara.
