
UCI Earns Fourth Straight Win At Home

IRVINE, Calif.—The Anteaters (12-6, 3-0 BW) are on a four-game win streak after defeating Concordia University Irvine (13-9), 15-2, on Friday evening.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>No. 6 UC Irvine outshot Concordia University Irvine, 33-23
>Erin Tharp made the start in the cage, making one stop
>Faith Tedesco entered in the second period, blocking three shots
>Jordan Frost took over the net in the third period and had two saves
>Portia Schiavone closed out the game in the cage, making one stop and had a steal
>Nioka Thomas and Libby Alexander paced the Anteaters, both scoring three goals on four shots

FIRST PERIOD
>Elena Flynn picked off the Concordia University Irvine player off a bad pass across the pool used that momentum to set up Airian Grishman at 4:25, 1-0
>The 'Eaters blocked a shot and respond on the next possession with a goal from Libby Alexander (3:40), 2-0
>UC Irvine would double their total at 2:35 and then again at 1:45 when Jensine Bugelli and Gracie Helberg found the back of the cage, 4-0
SECOND PERIOD
>After the Golden Eagles won the sprint, Michaela Strickland stripped the ball away and dished to Nioka Thomas (7:27), 5-0
>CUI halted the UC Irvine run at 3:57, taking advantage of the powerplay opportunity, 5-1
>Unable to convert on the one player advantage, Concordia was able to add to their column with eight seconds left in the half, 6-2
THIRD PERIOD
>Jordan Frost's save was able to set up the scoring possession for the Anteaters where Grisham (7:14) lofted the ball over the head of the Golden Eagles goalkeeper, 7-2
>Play was stopped at 5:35 as CUI was called for a penalty foul and Thomas beat the goalie on the five-meter shot, 8-2
>After the UCI regroup, the 'Eaters were able to execute on back-to-back possessions. Skibby (4:41) put it in the net before Gabby Norris (4:04) skipped the ball off the water into the bottom right corner of the cage, 10-2
>Libby Alexander found Norris at the top of the UCI arc at 1:44, 11-2
FOURTH PERIOD
>Sabina Shackelford dished to an open Alexander (6:31) in the center, firing a shot into the right side, 12-2
>Thomas notched the hat-trick at 5:18 with some help from Jessica Lynch as time was expiring, 13-2
>Norris passed the ball off to Alexander who recorded the hat-trick at 2:23, 14-2
>Mica Schiavone (1:29) unloaded an absolute bomb that deflected off the Golden Eagles' goalkeeper into the goal, 15-2
