Anteaters Take 11th Place At The Beach Invitational

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. -- After completing the second round early Tuesday morning at the Mission Viejo Country Club, UC Irvine would finish The Beach Invitational in 11th place.
The Anteaters shot a final round of 308 to end the tournament with a score of 957 (325-324-308). UCLA won the team title (911) and Sam Houston's State Zulaikah Nasser was the medalist (222-77-71-74).
Freshman Jasmine Chen finished in a tie for 16th with a three-round total of 234, her best finish as an Anteater. She led UCI after shooting a final round of 76 tying sophomore Charlotte Ryoo with the best round of the tournament. Ryoo also shot a 76 Tuesday to finish with a score a 236 (82-78-76) which was tied for 25th.
Megan Yang was tied for 53rd with a 54-hole score of 243 (83-82-78), while freshman Kiana Briggs was tied for 63rd at 245 (81-86-78) and sophomore Nicole Zhang was tied for 75th at 251 (82-87-82).
Playing as individuals, Olivia Canales tied for 53rd with a score of 243 (83-81-79) and Gabby Gonzalez was 85th with a total of 262 (91-84-87).
Yang, Chen and Canales each had a team-high birdies.
UCI will compete in the Fresno State Classic on Mar. 27-28 at the San Joaquin Country Club.
