IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball signed eight on National Signing Day adding four in the signing period this Spring. The 2023 class features players from all parts of California, a pair of infielders, pair of outfielders, left-handed and right-handed pitchers, and three transfers among the high school additions.

David Butler | RHP - "David was the Orange Empire Conference Pitcher of the Year this last season at Riverside City College. It's extremely impressive and rare that a freshman wins that award in that league. He finished the season undefeated and RCC won the state championship. David's fastball can reach the low 90s and he has two good breaking balls. He will play a big role for us immediately."

Landon Gaz | 1B - "Landon is what you look for in a physical, middle of the lineup hitter. He was the league and county player of the year last season. He is very advanced as a complete hitter and the power potential is exciting."

Tim Grack | RHP / INF - "We are so excited to add Tim to the class that we have signed for this coming season.  Tim has real two-way potential and big upside on the mound.  He is a good athlete that is still new to pitching, but is very advanced with a fastball that reaches the low 90s and a good change up.  Tim is made up of all the right things and will end up being one of the best high school players in the state this year."

Andrew Grove | RHP - "Andrew has a great build that is just scratching the surface on how good he will be. His fastball can reach 90 and the secondary stuff is big progress. He is primed for a huge senior year at Villa Park. Andrew is a great kid that we cannot wait to have in the program every day."

Trevor Hansen | RHP - "Trevor has been one of the best high school performers in the state the last two years. He has won 16 games on the mound over the last two years and helped his team win a CIF Championship. Trevor distinguishes himself from so many in his advanced ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes in any count. He will make an immediate impact for us."

Anthony Huezo | OF - "Anthony might be the best left handed hitter in the state. He has real power, but also an advanced ability to hit. He's also a good athlete that can play all three spots in the outfield. Anthony is a player that should make an immediate impact once he's on campus."

Brandon Luu | LHP - "Brandon is coming off a great junior season at Villa Park where he won 8 games and had a 1.24ERA. He is a physical, left handed pitcher with a great mix of competitive desire and poise. He has command of three pitches and is really good with the fastball. Brandon is a winner that will earn innings right away."
