
Giving Day: A Huge Success For Athletics

IRVINE, Calif. – The 2022 Giving Day was a huge success for Athletics, setting records for dollars raised as well as gifts made.
A total of $371,490 was raised from 967 gifts, bettering the 2021 previous record of $234,264.00 from 962 gifts. Athletics benefitted from 19 generous matches and challenges that were completed.
For the fourth consecutive year, Athletics led all campus units in total gifts and was second in dollars raised on Giving Day.
Brandon Leimbach, Executive Director of Development for Athletics, felt that the results speak for themselves. "Our coaches, staff, parents, student-athletes, and friends of UCI Athletics were all working together as ambassadors to tell the story of Anteater Athletics. I'm just so thankful for everyone who made a gift to the sport of their choice that will help support our world-class student-athletes."
Men's Volleyball led all teams, raising a whopping $102,166.00 on 162 gifts, a $66,850 increase over last year.
Men's soccer had the most gifts on the day with 212, bringing in $82,333.00. Baseball rounded on the top three with $61,169.69 from 95 gifts.
Overall, the university raised $1,581,454 and received 3,149 donations.
