IRVINE, Calif. -Â The UC Irvine men's track & field team heads to UC Davis for the 2022 Big West Championships, May 13-14. The conference meet gets underway on Friday with the javelin at 11:30 a.m., and will run through Saturday with the 4x400 relay closing out the championships at 4:30 p.m.

• Eighteen Anteaters are entered in 17 Big West Championship events.
• Junior
Josh Farmer earned his second career Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week award on April 19.
• Farmer was recognized after compiling a conference-leading 7,588 points in the decathlon at the Bryan Clay Invite.
• He set lifetime bests in three events including the 100m where he ran a 10.62 which is T-8th in school history.

Noah Holm has registered two collegiate personal bests this year, both of which rank among the top-4 at UCI.
• Holm had PRs of 183-06 (4th) in the discus on March 5 and 58-08.75 (3rd) in the shot put on April 22.

Drew Pickett cracked UCI's top-10 in the 110H at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate where he notched a PR 14.19 (8th).

Liam Miksic has surpassed 190 feet in each of his eight collegiate javelin competitions.
• He established a personal-record 206-00 on April 1 to rank second on UC Irvine's all-time charts (since 1986).
• Sophomore
Cameron Smith has PR'd in two of his three steeplechase races this year.
• His top time of 9:09.61 is currently fourth in the Big West.
• Senior
Kyle Tsu is a two-time NCAA West Preliminary qualifier and the defending Big West champion in the shot put.

SHOT PUT LEADERS
Noah Holm has won seven of his 10 shot put competitions this season. Holm currently holds the top mark in the Big West, and is 40th in the West Region with a personal-best 58-08.75.
Kyle Tsu also owns the second-best mark in the conference at 56-03.25. The duo ranks among the top-three in school history. Tsu is a two-time NCAA regional qualifier and the defending Big West champion in the shot put as he won the event at the 2021 conference meet with a collegiate personal-record 59-05.5. He was UC Irvine's first Big West champion in the men's shot put since 2015.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Farmer was named the Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the decathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational, April 13-14. Farmer totaled 7,588 points, which is tops in the Big West, 13th in the West Region and 18th in all of NCAA Division I this season. He was only 60 points off his personal-record of 7,648, which ranks No. 2 in school history. Farmer set lifetime bests in the 100m (10.62), 400m (47.80) and 1500m (4:37.11), while notching season bests in the long jump (23-10.75), shot put (45-01) and 110m hurdles (14.92). Farmer's time of 10.62 in the 100m is tied for eighth in program history. Last year, the San Diego native earned second-team All-America honors with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Farmer was the fourth Anteater to compete in the decathlon at the NCAA meet, and first since his father, Matt, took 13th in 1991.

FRESHMAN SENSATION
True freshman
Liam Miksic is in the midst of an impressive debut season with eight top-10 finishes in the javelin, including individual victories at The Battle in the OC and the
Vince O'Boyle T&F Classic where he established a personal-record 206-00. Miksic's mark ranks second in school history in the new javelin, and puts him at No. 5 in the Big West and No. 41 in the West Region this season. The Spring Lake, New Jersey, native has thrown for over 190 feet in every competition and has surpassed 200 feet four times.

MAKING THE LEAP
Senior
Seth Enochs will be competing in his final Big West Championship. The long jumper has scored in each of his three conference appearances with a high finish of second as a sophomore in 2019. That year he also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships where he placed 15th overall. Enochs owns a wind-aided lifetime-best 25-04, while his wind-legal PR of 25-00.75 ranks fourth in school history. In 2022, he picked up an individual victory at the UCSB Invitational (23-07) and had a season-best 23-11.75 in a runner-up performance at the Challenge Cup.

HURDLE CREW
Drew Pickett, who is in his first full campaign with the Anteaters after the cancellation of the 2020 season and redshirting in 2021, has established lifetime-bests in both the 110H (14.19) and 400H (54.53). His 110H time ranks eighth in school history.
Jarel Sayles, a 2021 All-Big West performer in the 110H, won the event in a collegiate personal-record 14.41 at the UCSB Invitational, but has been sidelined since late March with an injury.
Maxwell Jefferson, the 2021 California High School State Champion in the 110H, missed about a month of the season, but has competed in each of the last three weekends with a season-best 14.92 at the Steve Scott Invitational on April 30.

UP NEXT
The NCAA West Preliminary Championships will be held at the University of Arkansas, May 25-28. The top-48 declared student-athletes in each individual event and the top-24 declared relay teams will be accepted into the competition.
