David Kniffin Named Big West Co-Coach Of The Year

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine's David Kniffin was selected as the Big West Men's Volleyball Co-Coach of the Year, sharing the league's top honor with Hawaii's Charlie Wade.
Kniffin guided 13th-ranked UCI to the semifinals of the Big West Championship with a 3-0 upset over then-No. 9 UC San Diego.
In 2022, the Anteaters topped four ranked teams (Long Beach State, UC San Diego, Pepperdine, Stanford) and took six other teams that were ranked in the top 10 to five sets, including two in the current top three (No. 1 Hawaii, No. 3 UCLA).
In an injury riddled season, UCI had five different starting lineups and finished with an 11-16 overall record.
It is his second conference Coach of the Year honor being selected as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Coach of the Year in 2015.
Kniffin, who just completed his 10th season at the helm of the Anteaters, was named Volleyball Magazine National Coach of the Year in 2013 after UC Irvine captured its fourth national championship.
