LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team kicked off the 2022 outdoor season with the javelin and hammer throw Friday at the Beach Opener.
Sophomore Kassidy Sani led five Anteaters in the javelin with a sixth-place finish in her event debut (137-10). Freshman Laura Lindquist also had a top-20 showing with a toss of 116-05 in her first collegiate meet.
Sani and sophomore Deandra Tyler added personal records in the hammer throw. Sani came in 18th in a field of 64 with a mark of 149-10, while Tyler was 22nd. Tyler topped her previous best by five feet at 144-10.
The rest of the 'Eaters will be in action tomorrow with a full slate of Beach Opener events starting at 10 a.m.
