IRVINE, Calif. -Â The UC Irvine men's track & field team is back in action this week as it heads to Santa Barbara for the UCSB Invitational on Friday, March 11. The men's field events get underway with the long jump at noon, while action on the track is slated for a 3:15 p.m. start.

LAST TIME OUT
UC Irvine picked up three event wins last Saturday at the Beach Opener.
Noah Holm led the way with an impressive 2022 debut. The junior was the shot put champion with a toss of 54-08, and established a personal-record and NCAA regional qualifying mark of 183-06 in the discus. Holm's PR moved him up to No. 4 in program history.
Kyle Tsu was also the runner-up in the shot put (53-07) and eighth in the discus (172-09). On the track, the Anteaters won the first and last events of the day.
Cameron Smith got UCI started in the steeplechase, finishing ahead of the pack in a personal-record 9:28.69. He topped his previous best by 11 seconds.

Malcolm Overbaugh closed out the meet with a 4x400 victory as the quartet clocked in at 3:14.59. On Friday,
Liam Miksic had a top-five finish in the javelin. He came in fourth overall with a lifetime-best 195-03, which ranks sixth in school history (since 1986).

ALL-AMERICAN STATUS
Junior
Josh Farmer earned second-team All-America honors last year with a 16th-place finish in the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Farmer was the fourth Anteater in program history to compete in the decathlon at the NCAA meet, and first since his father, Matt, took 13th in 1991. The San Diego native qualified for the national championships with a personal-record 7,648 points in an individual victory at the APU Franson Classic. His PR ranks second in program history and stood as the top score in the Big West for the 2021 season.

BIG WEST CHAMP
Senior
Kyle Tsu will be looking to defend his Big West title in the shot put this year. Tsu won the event at the 2021 Big West Championships with a personal-record 59-05.5. He was UCI's first conference champion in the men's shot put since 2015. Tsu is a two-time NCAA regional qualifier and ranks second in school history.

MAKING THE LEAP
After the cancellation of the 2020 season, and a modified 2021 schedule, senior
Seth Enochs has his sights set on returning to the postseason. Enochs qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the long jump where he finished 15th as a sophomore in 2019. He is also a three-time Big West scorer in the event with a high finish of second. Enochs owns a wind-aided lifetime-best 25-04, while his wind-legal PR of 25-00.75 ranks fourth in school history.

NEW FACES
Liam Miksic had a strong start to his collegiate career with a personal-record 195-03 for a top-five finish in the javelin at the Beach Opener. Miksic's mark ranks sixth in school history (since 1986).
Carlo Reyes added an impressive debut on the track with top-10 performances in the 100m (10.86) and 200m (22.32).
Maxwell Jefferson, the 2021 California High School State Champion in the 110H, was also ninth in his signature event (15.16), while sophomore transfer
Ty Sheridan ran a leg on the first-place 4x400 relay (3:14.59).
