Nathan Irwin leads UC Irvine after the first day of the 45th John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
Irwin matched his season-low, shooting a 69 on the Ocean Course at Hokuala and is tied for 12
th place. He carded seven birdies with four coming in the final five holes. Irwin was tied for second in Par 5 scoring (-4).

Kolbe Irei, who is coming off the individual title at the Orange County Collegiate Classic, shot an even par 72 on the first round and is tied for 37
th place.

th with a score of 73, matching Irei with three birdies over the first 18 holes.
