MALIBU, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team continued play at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship with two doubles and four singles matches Friday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

Enrique Luque Rico and sophomore
Noah Zamora both went up against ranked Pac-12 opponents in the singles main draw Round of 32. Luque Rico fell to No. 46 Gustaf Strom of Arizona, while Zamora dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to No. 56 Patrick Zahraj of UCLA.

In the consolation draw, UCI had two matches that went to a super tiebreaker. Senior
Matthew Sah won his first set but was unable to close it out as Charles Qian (UCSD) came back for the 5-7, 6-4, 10-2 victory.

Ali Amiri also took Johannes Seeman of San Diego State down to the wire, splitting the first two sets 4-6, 6-3 before dropping the super tiebreaker.

In doubles, the two Anteater duos were pitted against Pac-12 teams in the Round of 32. Sah and Smart fell to second-ranked Stefan Dostanic/Bradley Frye of USC, 8-1, while Luque Rico and Zamora came up short against UCLA's Jeffrey Fradkin/Patrick Zahraj, 8-2.
