TUCSON, Ariz. --- UC Irvine women's soccer fell in their weekend finale in Tucson's Mulcahy Stadium by a final of 4-0 to the hosts at the University of Arizona.
Getting the Holeshot
Arizona (4-0-0) showed their stuff Sunday afternoon with a strong start to the match scoring three times in the first 10 minutes.
The Wildcats struck 102 seconds into the match as Brooke Wilson scored with an assist from Jada Talley to make it 1-0. Talley was on the scene again for the second goal, this time assisted Jill Aguilera in the sixth minute to up the Arizona lead to 2-0. Talley got herself a goal in the 10th minute on an assist from Iyana Zimmerman to make it a 3-0 match scoring on three of their first five shots.
Final Score: Arizona 4, UC Irvine 0
The Anteaters (1-5-0) managed just two shots in the first half, but one fell on target. They upped that in the second half finishing with five total shots, two on target, as well as the only two corner kicks in the second half. Arizona added a fourth goal coming in the 52nd minute as Brooke Wilson added an assist to her day helping Madison Goerlinger score, and completed the shutout as Arizona has yet to allow a goal through its first four matches in 2019.
Glo Hinojosa got her third career start stopping two shots.
Lauren McKimmey picked up the match's only caution, the first of her career.
