ABOUT THE MATADORS
CSUN is 10-12 on the season and is looking for their first Big West victory (0-6).
The Matadors are coming off a pair of losses to UC Santa Barbara, losing the last match in five.
The series record is tied at 34-34 all-time. UCI has won 17 of the last 18 matches between the two teams, including the last five straight.
In the last meeting, UCI won 3-0 behind the strength of a 15-2 advantage in blocking. Karl Apfelbach led all players with 12 kills at the Matadome. The Matadors struggled offensively, hitting .127 (32-22-79).
Both CSUN and UCI are looking to snap a four-match losing streaks.
ABOUT THE ANTEATERS
UCI is 14-9 overall and 2-4 in Big West matches.
Last week, UCI dropped a pair of losses to No. 2 Long Beach State, dropping the first match 3-1 and the second 3-0.
The Anteaters went to No. 8 in this week's AVCA Coaches Poll.
Karl Apfelbach paced UCI on the first night against LBSU with 17 kills, eight digs and a team-high three block assists. At the Pyramid, Aaron Koubi led UCI with 11 kills, while Scott Stadick hit .583 with seven kills on 12 attempts and three blocks.
STAT TALK
UCI ranks eighth nationally in assists with a 12.03 average and ninth in hitting percentage (.304) and kills (12.69). The Anteaters are third among Big West teams in all three of those categories.
UCI ranks second in the Big West in blocks (2.28) and attacks per set (27.95) and are third in digs (8.63).
Scott Stadick is second in the league in blocks (1.18), while Joel Schneidmiller is second in points (4.51) and aces (.562) and is third in kills (3.64) and seventh in hitting percentage (.316).
ABOUT APFELBACH
Senior Karl Apfelbach has led the Anteaters in kills on seven occasions this year, including a season-high 19 in the win over USC.
The opposite is second on the team and 10th in the Big West in kills with a 2.81 average.
He has recorded 27 service aces and is ninth in the conference with a 0.35 average.
STADICK STANDS OUT
Middle blocker Scott Stadick has hit .368 (37-9-76) against conference opponents, while averaging 0.86 blocks.
He hit a season-high .667 at UC San Diego which is third best in the conference this year and his 10 total blocks at Grand Canyon is the most among Big West players this year.
ANTEATERS OWN SOME OF THE BEST BIG WEST MOMENTS
UCI had a season-best 15.5 blocks versus Concordia which is the most the Big West this season.
The Anteaters had a season-high 53 digs in the season opener at Loyola which is fifth most in the league and tops the Big West in digs in a four-set match with 49 against Pepperdine.
UCI holds the second, third and fourth best totals in kills with 69 at Loyola, 65 versus USC and 64 at Stanford, while coming in at second and third in assists with 65 at Loyola and 62 at Stanford.
