AZUSA, Calif. - Freshman Hannah ChauΒ had an impressive showing in the 10000m to open the Bryan Clay Invitational for the UC Irvine women's track & field teamΒ Wednesday evening at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Stadium.

In her first career 10K, Chau clocked in at 35:50.29 to finish fifth out of 26 competitors in Heat 2. Her time ranks sixth in school history and is the best mark by an Anteater since Kareen Nilsson in 2001. It is also the fastest 10K in the Big West this year.

UC Irvine's distance runners return to Azusa for Day 2 of the Bryan Clay Invitational tomorrow, while a handful of 'Eaters will also make their way to Long Beach for the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
