
UC Irvine Competes in Pacific Coast Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team had 15 student-athletes compete in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Thursday at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track.

Sophomore Mikayla Scott was 10th out of 36 in the 200m, clocking in at 25.16 while running into a headwind of 2.1 meters per second. Freshman Zani Meaders wasn't far behind in 11th with a time of 25.19 (-1.1w). Senior Julia Sambvani (25.56) and freshman Briana Johnson (26.24) added lifetime bests.

Junior Imani Jones established a wind-aided personal-record 14.29 to place 14th in the 100m hurdles.

Senior Hallie Pullum notched a season-best 2:25.83 in the 800m.

In the field events, senior Adrienne Lee cleared 11-03.75 to tie for 13th in the pole vault.

Senior Elizabeth Akindele led a trio of Anteaters in the shot put, placing 22nd overall (44-08). Freshmen Tayla Crenshaw (38-05) and Ariya Chestnut (38-02) rounded out the group.

Junior Brianna Villanueva had a top-20 showing in the discus with a toss of 152-03, and was also 22nd in the hammer throw (172-06).

About an hour away in Azusa, UCI's distance runners resumed action at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Junior Brenda Dorantes was 12th in Heat 7 of the 5000m, crossing the finish line in 18:06.94, while senior Megan Mirkhanian wasΒ 22nd at 18:44.39.Β Junior Keely Boyd was also 24th in Heat 8 (18:18.21).Β
Junior Anastasia Karnaze ran the 3000m steeplechase (11:32.93).

UC Irvine will conclude the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday, April 19. The 'Eaters will also compete in the Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays tomorrow.
