UCI Finishes Strong at Jim Bush Legends Invite

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
The UC Irvine women's track & field team continued to produce strong performances Saturday at UCLA's Jim Bush Legends Invitational at Drake Stadium.
 
Freshman Zani Meaders claimed runner-up honors in the 400m, notching a personal-record 55.68. She finished behind only San Diego State senior and Mountain West champion Lisa-Anne Barrow. Meaders remains at No. 8 in program history, but cut six-hundredths of a second off her previous best of 55.74, which she established in her outdoor collegiate debut.
 
Sophomore Mikayla Scott added a lifetime-best 56.31 which was good for fifth place.
 
Senior Hope Bushnell was third among 35 competitors in the 200m, clocking in at 24.58 seconds. She was also eighth out of 47 in the 100m (12.06).
 
Senior Julia Sambvani had a top-10 showing in the 400m hurdles, coming in ninth (64.06), while junior Imani Jones placed 13th in the 100m hurdles, running a season-best 14.65.
 
In the field events, senior Adrienne Lee matched her personal best in the pole vault, clearing 11-11.75 (10th). Her mark is tied for fourth in school history.
 
Senior Barbara Coward was the discus runner-up in her first appearance since Feb. 9. Coward, who missed the last two meets with an injury, posted a mark of 160-00. Junior Brianna Villanueva was also fifth (147-01).
 
Sophomore Hanna Coloma finished sixth in the triple jump with a personal-record 37-11.5.
 
Senior Elizabeth Akindele was seventh overall in the shot put with a toss of 43-10.5. Freshman Tayla Crenshaw also posted a season-best 41-07.75 (9th).
 
Sophomore Natalie Koppel registered a season-best 17-07.5 in the long jump (11th).
 
Up next for UC Irvine is the Big West Challenge in Santa Barbara on Friday, April 5.
