Anteaters Predicted To Finish Fourth By Big West Coaches

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine was predicted to finish fourth by the Big West Coaches in their preseason poll.
Hawai'i, who is also on top of the AVCA preseason poll, received unanimous backing from the Big West coaches to win the 2020 title with six first-place votes and 36 points. UC Santa Barbara finished in second place with 28 points, while Long Beach State was third (23). The Anteaters came in fourth with 19 points, followed by CSUN (13) and UC San Diego (7).
UC Irvine is anchored by a pair of veteran leaders in senior middle blocker Scott Stadick and junior outside hitter Joel Schneidmiller. Stadick, a two-time All-American, has been one of the nation's top blockers throughout his career. Schneidmiller received AVCA honorable mention All-American acclaim a year ago. The Anteaters enter this season ranked No. 8 in the AVCA preseason poll.
UC Irvine will host the 2020 Big West Championship at the Bren Events Center Apr. 23-25. The Anteaters start Big West play against UC San Diego Feb. 15 at home.
UCI kicks off the men's volleyball season on December 29 at 5:00 p.m. against No. 10 Princeton.
