Postcards From Asia: Hyundai Skywalkers

Head Coach's log…
Korean professional volleyball is special. I am proud of the way the boys competed, learned and embraced our time here (both on and off the court). By the time this update posts, we will have departed Cheonan, South Korea and flown to Japan. Our intended arrival airport, Kansai (KIX), has been shut down indefinitely in the wake of Typhoon Jebi due to peripheral damage. We have been successfully rerouted to Nagoya. And we will bus to our first destination.
Patrick Vorenkamp, Freshman, Setter
On our way from the Korean Air Jumbos to the Hyundai Skywalkers most of the team felt tired, sore and worn out from the past couple days, me especially. However, once we pulled up to the front door of the Skywalker facility and walked in I was instantly filled with excitement and amazement, all of that fatigue instantly went away because of how amazing this place really is. We proceeded to have a hard and very productive day of training, which led to our first match against the Skywalkers. As a player on the sidelines it was amazing to fully take in the experience of playing a professional volleyball team and seeing the amount of energy and passion that we were playing with. With me being a freshman and having only a month of experience on this team, that energy and fire really gave me perspective to how we play and filled me with excitement for my future and my potential as an Anteater.
