Anteaters Honored As AVCA All-America

IRVINE, Calif. – Four UC Irvine men's volleyball players were honored as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Men's All-America.

Middle blocker Scott Stadick and opposite Karl Apfelbach were named to the second team, while outside hitters Aaron Koubi and Joel Schneidmiller were honorable mention selections.

Stadick is second in the country in blocks (1.32) and fourth in hitting percentage (.418). The sophomore was an honorable mention All-American choice last season.

Apfelbach ranks eighth nationally in points (4.54) and ninth in kills (3.80). He has led the Anteaters in kill on 20 occasions. He leads the team and is seventh in the Big West in aces with a 0.33 mark.

Koubi is fifth in the Big West in hitting percentage (.336) and second on the team with a 2.78 mark. He ranks 11^th in the league in points with a 3.18 average.

Schneidmiller, the Big West Freshman of the Year, is third on the team with 2.61 kill average. He owns a .333 hitting percentage which ranks sixth in the Big West.

UCI has had three or more players honored as All-America in five of the last six years.
