LA JOLLA, Calif. - Senior Tyra Jones had a pair of top-10 performances to lead the UC Irvine women's track & field team at the Triton Invitational Saturday at Triton Track & Field Stadium.

Jones was fourth among collegiate athletes, and sixth overall, in her primary event, the 100m hurdles. The San Marcos native cracked the 14-second mark for the first time in 2018, registering a season-best 13.98. She went on to place fifth in the NCAA Division IΒ 400m hurdle race, clocking in at 62.72 seconds (10th overall).

Senior Sophia Zhou added a top-20 showing in the 400m where she ran a personal-record 59.14 (16th).

Sophomore Fiora Chan paced five 'Eaters in the 1500m with a lifetime-best 5:06.84 (53rd). Junior Megan Mirkhanian wasn't far behind as she placed 54th at 5:09.32. Senior Jenessa Reyes (5:13.74), sophomore Veronica Lopez (5:14.14) and freshman Fiona De RegoΒ (5:17.52) also competed in the 1500m.

Freshmen Damatria Willingham (13.02) and Jenelle King (13.33) were 31st and 36th, respectively, in the 100m dash. Junior Hallie Pullum came in 50th in the 800m (2:24.17), while freshman Hanna Coloma ran a season-best 16.96 in her second 100H race of the year.

UC Irvine has a busy week ahead as it will send athletes to the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 19-20) in Azusa, the Mt. SAC Relays (April 19-21) in Torrance, and both the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (April 19) and Beach Invitational (April 20-21) in Long Beach.
