Incoming Class: Sydney Carr
July 17, 2017 | Women's Soccer
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer continues to bolster its attack adding local forward Sydney Carr.
Carr has starred at multiple clubs around Southern California and grown into a premier goalscorer in the county as a member of El Modena High School's team.
"Sydney clicked with our staff immediately," beamed head coach Scott Juniper.Β "We had watched her play a lot during the recruiting process, and we all knew that if we could blend her skill set into our team that she has the ability to get in behind a lot of teams."
Carr caught on with Albion SC this past season after stints with Arsenal FC and the Strikers FC under-17 team where she brought home a Gold Division championship at the 35th annual Soccerloco San Diego Surf Cup. Her crafty ability to weave through defensive fronts has been a staple to her attack.
"Syd is a fun person to be around and has a very competitive edge to everything she does while wanting to do that for the good of the team.Β I can't wait to work with her every day and see her grow into a collegiate soccer player."
Her growth on the club circuit earned her a spot on Olympic Developmental Pool regional and state teams along with an ODP national title. Carr followed that up with an invite to train with the U.S. National team and brief stints with their under-17 and under-19 squads.
