Saturday's Heat Sheets | Meet Headquarters
AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Megan George will move on to the 100-meter hurdle quarterfinals at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships as she was one of 24 athletes to advance out of the first round Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The top-three finishers in each of the six heats, plus the next six fastest times qualified for tomorrow's quarterfinal. George, who ran in Heat 5, clocked in at 13.45 seconds to place fourth in her section and 18th overall. She was the third-fastest time qualifier to comfortably secure her spot in the next round. George, a three-time Big West champion, is making her third-straight appearance at the NCAA West Regional meet and will be looking for her first bid to nationals on Saturday.
Junior Tyra Jones was also entered in Heat 4 of the 100m hurdles but did not finish the race.
Sophomore Barbara Coward took 28th out of 48 in the discus. Her best throw of the day came on her third and final attempt where she registered a mark of 163-02. That distance moved Coward up 14 spots in the standings, but it wasn't enough to put her in the coveted top-12 that qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Megan George will be the lone Anteater competing on Saturday, May 27, as she is set to run in the 100m hurdle quarterfinal at 5:05 p.m. (PDT).
