May 27, 2017 | Women's Track & Field
AUSTIN, Texas - UC Irvine senior Megan George concluded an illustrious collegiate career in the NCAA West Preliminary quarterfinal round of the 100-meter hurdles Saturday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The top-12 finishers earned a trip to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Championships in two weeks. George, who was running in Lane 9 of Heat 2, clocked in at 13.39 seconds to finish 20th overall. It was her fourth-fastest time of the season.
George was making her third-straight NCAA postseason appearance. She qualified for the regional meet in the 100H from 2015-17, while also competing in the 4x100 last year.
George will leave UCI as one of the most decorated athletes in program history. Earlier this month, she claimed her third-straight Big West title in the 100H, making her the conference's fourth three-time champion in that event. Her first Big West victory as a sophomore in 2015 was also the first-ever for the Anteaters in the 100m hurdles.
In addition, the Inglewood, Calif., native owns four school records as she has the top mark in the 100H (13.28), 4x100 (44.51), 4x400 (3:42.57) and indoor 60m hurdles (8.44).
