Crystal Lizaola Leads 'Eaters at Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Senior Crystal Lizaola set another personal record in the 800m to lead the UC Irvine women's track & field team at the Triton Invitational Saturday in La Jolla.
Lizaola finished sixth overall with a lifetime-best 2:09.93. She has registered three PRs in as many 800m races this year and now ranks ninth in school history.
Junior Simone Buchanan paced a trio of 'Eaters in the 400m where she ran a season-best 56.38 to come in fourth. Sophomore Brandy Coward added a personal-best 57.57 (13th), while senior Saniya Syed notched a season-best 57.93 (16th). Syed was also 10th in the 200m at 26.37 seconds.
On Friday, junior Dazhana Bauer-Jackson had a top-15 performance in the hammer throw as she took 14th out of 37 (172-05). Sophomore Barbara Coward contributed a 15th-place showing in the discus (168-01).
UC Irvine is back in action next weekend when it hosts the Adidas/Steve Scott Invitational, April 28-29.
