The UC Irvine women's track & field team sent a handful of athletes to the Distance Carnival on the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Stadium.
Senior Aliya Shah led the way as she established her second personal record of the year in the steeplechase, clocking in at 11:07.40 to finish seventh in her section and 27th overall. She remained at No. 5 among UCI's all-time leaders. Freshman Anastasia Karnaze was also 34th at 11:17.78.
In the 5000m, sophomore Lisa Vasquez took 20th in Heat 4 (17:50.12), while junior Jenessa Reyes placed 26th in Heat 6 (19:01.57).
Senior Saniya Syed was the lone 'Eater to compete in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track. She ran a season-best 58.03 in the 400m.
Junior Dazhana Bauer-Jackson also participated in the hammer throw at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance where she came in 23rd (140-08).
UC Irvine continues action at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, while it heads back to Long Beach on Saturday for the Beach Invitational.
