No. 6 UC Irvine Posts 20-4 Victory Over Cal Baptist To Start Season

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine had a dominating 20-4 victory over No. 24 Cal Baptist in the first game of the Cal Baptist Mini Tournament at the Lancer Aquatics Center.
UCI's 20 goals ranks tied for seventh for most goals scored in a game all-time.
The Anteaters were led by McKenna Mitchell, who returns off a redshirt year in 2016, with four goals. Natalie Seidemann and Mary Brooks had three goals while Allie Loomis, Julie Swieca, Keana Eldridge and Mackenzie Milham added two apiece. Kelli Baumgardner and Gabby Pierandozzi also pitched in a goal.
Riley Shaw totaled 10 saves in the cage for UCI, while Jenna Phreaner had two saves in the fourth period.
Allie Loomis kicked off the scoring with a goal at 6:22 as the Anteaters jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first period.
UCI scored five more in the second period, led by a pair of goals by Seidemann, to lead 10-2. After four more goals in the third stanza, UCI exploded with six in the final period from Castillo, Seidemann, Loomis, Mitchell, Sweica and Eldridge.
The Anteaters conclude tournament action at 4:30 p.m. when they face CSU Bakersfield.
