LA JOLLA, Calif. --- UC Irvine punched a ticket to the championship match of the Triton Invitational Sunday afternoon with a 9-6 victory over LMU.
Three first-period goals gave UCI (9-2) a good start, but a goal given up in the final second of the quarter gave the 'Eaters just a one-goal advantage.
Hannah Croghan scored her second of the match to lead UCI into the half with a three-goal lead, 6-3.
Jessy Cardey helped the 'Eaters finish with a penalty-shot goal in the waning seconds of the third period and added her third for the hat trick in the fourth quarter to finalize the win.
UCI will now square off with the top-seeded defending champs in USC at 5:50 p.m.
