UC Irvine Competes At Big West Championships

UCI will compete in the Big West Championships Sunday-Tuesday (Apr. 21-23) at the San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.
UC Irvine joins Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Hawaii, Long Beach State, UC Davis, UC Riverside in the race for the Big West title.
Teams will play 18 holes each day with Sunday and Tuesday tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. and Monday starting at 9:00 a.m.
San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club is a par 73, measuring 6,196 yards.
Luciane Lee, Michelle Park, Sara Banke, Brenna Carlson and Ronnie Valerio will compete for the Anteaters.
The Anteaters are paired with defending champions UC Davis on Sunday. Junior Ronnie Valerio and UC Davis' Betty Chen will tee off first at 7:30 a.m. The following pairs will go off at eight minute intervals.
UCI has won five Big West Championships (2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2002).
The Anteaters placed second at last season's championship with a 54-hole score of 911 (300-302-309).
UCI is currently ranked No. 68 in the golfstat.com rankings.
Luciane Lee followed up a third place finish at the Juli Inkster Invitational with a career-best second place performance at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. The freshman shot a three-round total of 215 (70-71-74) to finish as runner-up.
As a team, the Anteaters placed fourth at the Fresno State Lexus Classic with a total of 903 (301-300-302).
