STORY LINES
- In non-conference matches away from home, UCI was 5-1-1 in 2011 and 9-1-3 over the last two seasons.
- Against Pac-12 schools, UCI is 14-41-6 all-time and 9-19-4 away from home.
- The last win against a Pac-12 school came on Sept. 24, 2010 with a 1-0 home win over Oregon State. The last road win was Aug. 23, 2009 with a 2-1 win at Arizona.
- Oregon and Oregon State have each played the same three schools: UAB at home, and Portland and Portland State on the road.
- UCI defeated #25 Portland, 3-1, in 2011. Oregon fell, 2-0, to Portland in 2012 while Oregon State pulled the 1-0 upset.
- UCI and Oregon State have met once (2010) since 1999 after seeing each other once a year from 1993-98.
- UC Irvine has shutout the Beavers five of their eight meetings.
ON THE HORIZON
- UCI is one of two Big West schools on Oregon's schedule (Pacific).
- The Anteaters are the second of four straight Big West schools Oregon State will face. The Beavers travel to CSUF before returning home for UCI. They will head out again for road matches at UCSB and Cal Poly.
- UCI plays its next nine matches on the road. It will go 39 days without a match at Anteater Stadium which includes the entire month of September.
- There are currently five ranked schools on UCI's ledger: No. 5 Pepperdine, 11 Long Beach State, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 23 Oregon State, and No. 25 San Diego State.
- UCI will face five MAC Hermann Watch List players: Chelsea Buckland (Oregon State), Nadia Link (LBSU), Lindsi Cutshall (BYU), Kelley Monogue (Texas A&M), and Michelle Pao (Pepperdine).
QUICK HITS
- UC Irvine led the Big West Conference in average home attendance in 2011 at 694.
- UCI finished second in the Big West in goals-per-game (1.86) and goals-against-average (0.92)
- UCI was the only Big West school in 2011 to have two players, Natalia Ledezma and Lexi Kopf, record 10+ goals.
- UC Irvine was held scoreless twice in 2011, the lowest total of any Big West school.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- GETTING THEIR BOOTS ON - The Anteaters saw a pair of debuts over the weekend. Alana Sooy and Corey Tobin each made their first appearance as an Anteater. Sooy closed out the final four minutes of the first half against Auburn while Tobin got the start against LMU before leaving due to injury.
- SPREADING THE WEALTH - UCI's first four goals have been scored by four different players. Zuri Walker scored her first goal since 2010. Rachel Wood scored her first career UCI goal after three seasons at UNC. Mady Solow and Jordan Utvich each scored their first career collegiate goals.
- THE 300 CLUB - Eight Anteaters have played at least 300 minutes to date. Zoya Farzaneh and freshman Haley O'Brien have anchored the back line for all 368 minutes. Jenn Randazzo has amassed 337 minutes after stepping in for Corey Tobin who started the LMU match.
- TREACHEROUS TERRAIN - UC Irvine is on the road for the next nine matches which include stops in soccer-crazed Oregon and the high altitude of Denver, Colo.
NUMEROLOGY
- UCI's defeat of No. 21 Auburn was the fourth win over a ranked, non-conference opponent in the last three years joining No. 11 Texas A&M and No. 25 Portland in 2011, and No. 17 San Diego in 2010.
- Natalia Ledezma and Lexi Kopf each earned a hat trick last season. The program had just two hat tricks prior to that in its existence.
- UCI's offense had a stretch of 12 straight matches with a goal scored in 2011. UCI also went 16 straight in 2009 and 20 straight matches to start the 2010 season.
- UCI is 3-2 all-time on Aug. 31st, all played away from home.
- UCI is 3-4 all-time on Sept. 2nd, five of the matches were decided by 3+ goals.
PRESEASON
- The Anteaters were picked to finish second in the Big West behind Long Beach State. LBSU earned eight of nine first-place votes with UCI earning the ninth.
- Natalia Ledezma and sophomore Cami Privett were voted to the Big West Preseason All-Conference Team.
- Natalia Ledezma was #84 on the top-100 college players to watch according to @TopDrawerSoccer.
SOCCER AT THE NEXT LEVEL
- UCI alums Danielle de Seriere and CoCo Goodson both play for FC Twente, a soccer club stationed in the Netherlands. FC Twente is currently 1-0-0 after defeating FC Utrecht, 2-0. Their next match will be at 10:30 a.m. PDT on Fri. Aug. 31 as they travel to play PSV/FC Eindhoven.
- Rachel Flemming, a 2008 alum, started her first season as a defender for LA Strikers FC.
- Anteater alums Judy Christopher and Sarah Devine are together on the San Diego SeaLions of the WPSL who went 5-1-0 before falling in the regional final.
DUCK TAPE
- Head Coach Tara Erickson is in her eighth season at Oregon, 12th overall collegiately.
- Oregon has not made the NCAA Tournament since joining Division I soccer in 1996.
- Oregon finished 2011 at 8-9-3. Its last winning season was 2006.
- The Ducks return Bri Pugh and Scout Libke who tied for the team lead with four goals each in 2011.
- Freshman Kristen Parr has scored all three goals for Oregon in 2012.
- UCI faced Erickson's squad twice when she was at Portland State. They tied, 0-0, in 2004 following a 1-0 victory for UCI in 2003.
- Sophomore Kelsey Foo and UCI RS-freshman Alana Sooy were teammates at Archbishop Mitty HS.
BEAVER FEVER
- Head Coach Linus Rhode is in his fifth season with Oregon State, a program that started in 1988.
- Rhode has led the Beavers to three consecutive NCAA appearances have just one appearance (1994) in their previous 21 years.
- Chelsea Buckland has not seen any action after leading the 2011 squad with 11 goals and 26 points
- The Beavers, like UCI, have four different goal scorers for their four goals.
- OSU has outscored opponents 3-0 in the second half of 2012 matches.
- Megan Miller's three assists lead the team.
- Freshman keeper Natalie Ogden and UCI RS-freshman Alana Sooy were teammates at Archbishop Mitty HS.
