Ryan Ammerman

Ryan Ammerman returned to UC Irvine as an assistant coach prior to the 2022-2023 campaign.

Ammerman played for the Anteaters from 2004-2009. He was a member of UC Irvine’s first two NCAA Championship teams, earning first-time All-American and NCAA Most Outstanding Player in 2009. The setter was named AVCA National Player of the Week and MPSF Co-Player of the Week on Mar. 8, 2009. He was also named first team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as a senior.

Following his career at UCI, Ammerman played professionally in Spain, Sweden, Slovenia, Italy, Belgium, and Croatia. He was a member of two championships (2011, 2013) while in Croatia and competed with the United States Men's National Team from 2010-2015, helping the United States to a Pan Am Cup Championship in 2012.

Ammerman has been on the Anteater bench before, serving as the volunteer assistant coach in 2013-14. He has extensive club coaching experience, most recently at Front Range Volleyball Club (FRVBC). With Ammerman at the helm, four FRVBC teams have earned bids to the USAV Junior National Championships. He has also had stints at the Elevation Volleyball Club in Engelwood, Colorado, and Balboa Bay Boys Volleyball Club over the last decade.
