UC Irvine Wins Exhibition at UCLA, 1-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- UC Irvine men's soccer kicked off their competitive schedule with an exhibition match at UCLA Tuesday night scoring a 1-0 win.
UCI used 23 different players in the match including 10 of the 14 newcomers to keep the Bruins scoreless. UCI had a slight edge in the first half in shots, 4-3, and the only two shots on target. The Bruins finished with a 9-7 shot advantage, but just one on target stopped while the 'Eaters had four shots on goal.
The difference in the match came in the 64th minute as Zac Smuck found the back of the net giving UCI the lead and game-winner. The win comes on the heels of a 2-0 victory over the Bruins to open the 2025 regular season.
Coach Raz's side will play a final exhibition on Saturday, August 15 before their regular season officially opens August 20 in Anteater Stadium at 6:00 p.m. vs. No. 19 Oregon State.
