IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine women's track & field begins its Big West title defense with the multi-event championships at Anteater Stadium, May 8-9. Joy Anderson, Jazzmine Davis, Jolie Robinson, and Zharia Taylor will represent the 'Eaters in the heptathlon this weekend.
MULTIS DEPTH
All four of UC Irvine's heptathletes rank among the top-10 in program history, with three of those marks being set earlier this year at the Bryan Clay Multis (April 9-10). Joy Anderson led the way with a school-record 5,572 points, topping the standard of 5,549 that was set by UCI Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Lauren Collins in 2009. Anderson's score ranks first in the Big West and 21st in all of NCAA Division I this season. It has been an impressive freshman campaign for Anderson, who was the 2026 MPSF indoor champion in the pentathlon. Seniors Jazzmine Davis (5,415) and Zharia Taylor (5,185) both added lifetime bests that rank fourth and 10th, respectively, on the Anteaters' all-time charts. Senior and two-time Big West champion Jolie Robinson owns UC Irvine's No. 3 score with a PR of 5,524 points that she established in 2025.

• In her first heptathlon, Anderson broke UCI's 17-year-old record with 5,572 points at the Bryan Clay Multis.

• She also cleared 1.73 meters (5-8) in the high jump at the Triton Invitational to tie for sixth in program history.

• Davis is a two-time Big West scorer in the heptathlon, finishing fifth in 2024 and 2025.
• Last year, she was also the 400m hurdle champion, finished third in the 100H, and second in the 4x100.
• She was named the 2025 Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Meet for her effort.
• This season, Davis established a personal-record 5,415 points in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis.
• Her score ranks fourth in program history and is the third-best in the Big West heading into the weekend.
• Davis, who was a 2025 NCAA qualifier in the 100H and 400H, is also third in school history in both events.
• She was part of the 4x100 relay that ran UCI's No. 2 time at the Steve Scott Invitational (44.60) on May 2.
• Last weekend, Davis also matched her long jump PR of 5.87 meters, which is tied for ninth at UC Irvine.

• At the 2025 Big West Championships, she set a PR with 5,524 points, which ranks third in school history.
• She is also fourth on UCI's all-time charts in both the long jump (6.19m) and javelin (44.46m).
• Robinson was named the Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Meet in 2023 and 2024.
• In addition, she was tabbed the 2023 Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

• Taylor competed in her first career heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis, April 9-10.
• She compiled 5,185 points to rank 10th in school history and fifth in the Big West this season.
• Taylor was a 2025 second-team All-American in the high jump after finishing 16th at the NCAA Championships.
• She cleared a personal-record 1.81 meters (5-11.25) to tie for ninth at the NCAA West First Round.
• Taylor's high jump PR ranks second in program history.
RECORD-BREAKING SEASON
It has been a record-breaking season for UC Irvine women's track & field in 2026. The Anteaters combined to top the charts in six events during the indoor season. They carried that momentum into the outdoor campaign where they have broken seven school records in five events (100m, 400m, steeplechase, 4x400 relay, heptathlon). The 'Eaters also won the program's first MPSF Indoor Track & Field team championship in March, less than 10 months after claiming their first Big West Women's Outdoor Track & Field title in 2025.
RELAY ON REPEAT
In UCI's first 4x400 relay of the season, Aoife Hernon, Catalina Teran, Esmeray Demirbas, and Mikah Longcob ran a program-record 3:40.83 at the Ben Brown Invitational (March 13). Three weeks ago at the Mt. SAC Relays, Hernon, Ihe Okoh, Teran, and Demirbas bettered that mark with a new school-record 3:39.01. In the 4x100, Jazzmine Davis, Halle Sutherland, Samantha Bartz, and Teran ran a season-best 44.60 at the Steve Scott Invitational. The quartet ranks second in program history as their time was .09 seconds off the school record.
WEEKLY TRIFECTA
The Anteaters claimed three Big West Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards this year. On April 7, Kaia Schmidt took home UCI's first honor of the season after winning the steeplechase in a school-record and 17-second personal-best 10:16.88 at the Triton Invitational. Aoife Hernon and Joy Anderson then swept the weekly honors on April 14. Hernon was named the Big West Track Athlete of the Week for her initial school record in the 400m (54.05), while Anderson earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week distinction following her program-best 5,572 points in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis.
