IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf makes its way to La Quinta, California, for the 2026 Big West Championship, May 3-5. The three-day tournament will be contested at La Quinta Country Club for the sixth year in a row. Eighteen holes are scheduled for each day. UCI's 5-count-4 lineup features Rei Harashima, Jack Yu, Jason Tang, Owen Davis-Piger, and Tommy Lin, while Kody Li is an alternate.
Ten teams will vie for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. The 10th-seeded 'Eaters are slated to open the Big West Championship alongside No. 9 seed UC Riverside Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Top-seeded Long Beach State is the favorite to win its fourth consecutive championship as the Beach is ranked 28th in the nation. The rest of the field includes No. 2 seed UC San Diego, No. 3 Cal Poly, No. 4 UC Davis, No. 5 UC Santa Barbara, No. 6 Hawai'i, No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, and No. 8 CSUN.

UC Irvine closed out the regular season at the 79th Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, April 13-15. Rei Harashima was the Anteaters' top finisher for the seventh time in 10 tournaments. He tied for 37th at 2-over 212 (73-70-69).
SENIOR LEADER
Senior Rei Harashima ranks first on the squad with a 72.80 average through 30 rounds. He closed out the fall campaign with a season-best 209 (69-69-71) at the Ka'anapali Classic. In March, he also had a season-best score to par at 6-under 210 (74-68-68) to tie for fifth at the UC San Diego Invitational. His back-to-back rounds of 68 matched his best 18-hole score of the year which he carded in the first round of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. Harashima has six sub-70 rounds in 2025-26, and 28 in his career. The three-time All-Big West honoree placed among the top-10 at the Big West Championship in each of the last two years, finishing third in 2024 and eighth in 2025. Harashima has played in every tournament for UCI since his arrival in 2022, compiling eight top-10 showings and a 72.59 career average (123 rounds).
YEAR TWO
Sophomore Jack Yu had his best outing of the 2025-26 campaign at the season-opening Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational where he carded a 6-under 210 (69-69-72). Yu came in below par again at the Lamkin Invitational in San Diego (March 9-10) at 1-under 215. He kicked off the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 71 and 68, and rode that strong start to a top-20 finish. He ranks second on the team with a 74.30 scoring average. Last year, Yu and classmate Tommy Lin both placed among the top-20 in their Big West Championship debuts and earned all-conference honorable mention recognition. Sophomore Owen Davis-Piger has also become a regular in the lineup in his second year, playing in all 10 tournaments. Davis-Piger fired a collegiate career-best 215 (68-70-77) at the Ka'anapali Classic, Oct. 27-29.
STEADY PRESENCE
Junior Jason Tang has played in every tournament in his Anteater career. Through 90 rounds, Tang owns a 74.19 career average. He has five top-20 showings with a career-best sixth-place finish coming in his collegiate debut where he carded a 10-under 203 at the Nick Watney Invitational in September 2023.
FALL RECAP
UC Irvine had a high finish of ninth at the Oregon State Invitational during the fall season. Jack Yu led the 'Eaters at the season-opening Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational with a 6-under 210 (69-69-72). Four of the six Anteaters who competed in a fall tournament had at least one sub-70 round.
