
No. 5 UC Irvine Falls To No. 2 Hawaii

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine suffered its first sweep of the season at the hands of No. 2 Hawaii (22-25, 22-25, 22-25) at the Bren Events Center.
UC Irvine's offense was on point for the first two sets, committing just three errors (25-3-58) and ending the night with a .284 (34-9-88) hitting percentage.
The Anteaters (15-5, 3-3) were led by William D'Arcy's 13 kills followed by freshman Andrej Jokanovic with nine kills and a career-high six aces. The outside hitter's six aces matches Micah Goss for most by an Anteater this season and fifth most by a Big West player in 2026.
The fourth largest crowd in program history (3,067) watched UC Irvine record 18 service errors and Hawaii hit .466 (44-10-73), the highest mark against the Anteater defense this season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Middle blocker Micah Goss hit .500 with four kills and three block assists
>Outside hitter Andon Kiriakou added four kills, seven digs and two block assists
>Middle blocker Lukas Winn sparked UCI matching Goss with a team-best three block assists to go with a kill and dig
>Hawaii out-dug UCI 37-18 and held a slight 7.5-7.0 edge in blocking to improve to 23-3 overall and 6-0 in the Big West
>Hawaii's Kristian Titriyski led all players with 20 kills, hitting .448
FIRST SET
>Consecutive kills gave Hawaii the first separation, 6-4, then a pair of kills and block increased the lead to 17-12
>UCI trailed 18-23 before they exploded on a 3-0 run which included a kill and block by Micah Goss with Nicolas Restrepo and an ace by Andrej Jokanovic to close to 21-23
>Hawaii would go on to win the set 25-22, hitting .500 (16-2-28). The Anteaters helped the UH cause with six service errors
SECOND SET
>An ace by Cameron Kosty gave UCI an early 3-1 lead then a kill by Jokanovic made it 9-6
>Hawaii would knot the score at 13-13 on a 3-0 run which included a UCI service error and two kills
>Out of an Anteater timeout, UCI responded on two Andon Kiriakou kills, 15-13
>A 4-1 run, all kills, moved Hawaii in front 18-17
>Hawaii's Adrien Roure had a pair of aces during a 5-0 'Bows run to land UH at set point 24-20
>The Anteaters tried to rally on a kill by Goss and a block by Kiriakou and Clark, 22-24, but a Hawaii kill ended it, 25-22
>UCI did not commit an attack error in the set, hitting .423 (11-0-26), but had seven more errors from the service line
THIRD SET
>It was all Hawaii to start the set, 7-1, until Lukas Winn and Jokanovic had a block to stop the momentum
>The Rainbow Warriors would lead without much excitement until Andrej Jokanovic would fire three straight aces that was followed by a block by D'Arcy and Lukas Winn to inch UCI within 22-24
>Following a Hawaii timeout, Titriyski ended the match with a kill, 25-22
