'Eaters Start Strong at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - Five Anteaters were in action Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
 
Brendan Clark ran a 400m personal-record 47.31 to place seventh out of 32.
 
Logan Lyght claimed runner-up honors in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.10 seconds.
 
Roman Mendoza clocked a season-best 53.16 in the 400m hurdles.
 
Brandon Burns also had a top-20 finish in the 100m (10.68).
 
 
LONG BEACH, Calif. - UC Irvine kicked off the Beach Invitational Friday at Jack Rose Track.
 
Jimmy Markowicz had the top steeplechase time of the meet, clocking a personal-record 9:29.74.
 
Matthew Irvine was the only other Anteater in action on the track as he ran the 400m (49.52).
 
In the field events, Jake Reed tied for fifth in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.65 meters (15-3). Darrin Campbell (60.81m/199-6) and Griffin Cole (58.84m/193-0) also competed in the javelin.
 
Over in Azusa, Juan Chantaca ran the 5000m Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, crossing the finish line in 14:46.70.
 
UC Irvine wraps up the weekend Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational, and Beach Invitational.
